Bridging the Gap between Community and Residential Mental Health Treatment
Mental health treatment is a serious issue. This should be taken in to consideration seriously. The problem is that treatment is not possible until various non profit and commercial organizations come together to offer relevant support to patients.
It has been more than twenty odd years that the ‘system-of-care’ values and practices were introduced and shared widely across the globe in this regard.
The major issue was the stress that existed between residential and community mental health treatment providers. These service providers were devoted to offer services to youths, adults, the old and children.
Things did not work as smoothly as was expected. Community mental health providers raised their voice and deep concerns against their residential counterparts. According to community providers, the residential counterparts kept children for a long time without any impact of the treatment.
To retaliate, residential mental health services have affirmed that they are not supported by their community counterparts.
They further confirmed that community colleagues do not espouse efforts contributed towards mental health programs. None of the discharge planning or dedicated service options is welcomed with open arms.
The reactions on claims made by community and residential communities by families are mixed. Consumers are happy with services coming from both providers.
They have less complaints and more words of appreciation for both for efforts made towards helping mental health patients and their families.
The whole environment was getting disturbed. Things were getting complex and anything could happen in the long run. The war may result in patients and regular consumers suffer.
The war may prove fatal for all. This is the reason that main focus is on bridging the gap between residential and commercial mental health services. Many efforts are being made in this regard.
The communities dedicated to ‘Building Bridges’ to eliminate the gap are usually inspired by the following:
* Compelling youth voices
* Family voices
* Top participants
* Joint Resolutions
* A lot more
The best part is that more than about twenty national organizations devote to mental health in conjunction with 19 reputed agencies have raised their voice towards the joint resolution.
The main aim of these organizations is to restructure relationships between commercial and residential communities.
Today, residential mental health treatment programs are collaborating with their community partners all across the nation. The relationship is improving for good.
The treatment offered is usually family oriented. Patients and their loved ones will be offered requisite information and support related to medications, treatment, home treatments, and a lot more to allow them to know what can be done to increase the pace of recovery.
Some of the integral elements of the gap bridging movement include the following listed below:
* Offering Education
* Support for self-advocacy skills
* Integration of cultural ability
* Integration of linguistic competence
* Execution of trauma-informed care
Today, advocates and most of the reputed policymakers are recognizing the importance of both commercial and residential mental health care services for the needy.
Hence, both these services are advocated at equal levels.
