What about Pinterest?
Yes. What about it?
Most of you may have already heard of it, but didn’t know a clue about it or you didn’t have the courage to sign up.
Anyways, Pinterest is one of the newest and popular social networks and it got so high in top because of his original facilities.
We have facebook for keeping in touch with our colleagues (at least, for this it was created), we have twitter for communicating quickly with the ones interested in our activities and now there is also Pinterest for sharing with everyone what we have discovered regarding our hobbies and interests.
To be more specific, Pinterest was created for fulfilling the need of saving the pics, links and other objects of interest in one single place and, moreover, an organized one.
In other words, it’s the virtual and modern version of the so out of date boards that we hung on a wall, where we used to pin notes, pics, articles etc.
First of all, being a virtual thing, you have the advantage of keeping as many boards as you want. Moreover, now you can also keep 3 secret boards, as the usual version of Pinterest was based on public-only ones.
Second of all, another great advantage is that you have the facility of seeing what the other users already thought “interesting” and even to pin them on your own boards (it’s called “repin”) and you also have the option of liking it and comment about it, like on Facebook.
In matter in keeping in touch with the other users, the platform is like twitter: you have followers and you follow.
Still, Pinterest has the plus of letting you see the pins of other users even if you don’t follow them.
And they can also see yours, repin them, like them, and comment about them.
The posts are listed by time, but you can also add the criteria of subject.
In the end, on Pinterest you can find ideas about how to redecorate your house, ideas for dinner, holidays and even how to dress and beauty tips; by adding the fact that you can also save & organize them, it seems brilliant!
Last, but not least, as the founders say:
“Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.”
Happy pinning!
