PIONEER DDJ-T1- A REVIEW

Mixing software and digital DJ interfaces occupy a growing market and Pioneer’s latest invention DDJ-T1 is one tough competitor. The digital DJ interface has a number of distinguishing features like a couple of touch strips for “needle search” and some free-spinning grooved jog wheels which have lit-up time indicators.

DDJ-T1 is shaped almost like an envelope and is quite wide at just under 27 inches and more than one foot deep.

The DJ interface needs its very own tabletop to be used in a club.
Many of the serious controllers available need their own separate installations which is true in the case of DDJ-T1 as well.

The installation of Traktor is necessary and the box includes the DDJ-T1 edition, which is absolutely essential if you want the device to function properly.

Other versions like S4 and Pro edition will not be able to bring out the full potential of the controller mapping.
In case you have become accustomed to some of the other editions then you need to change that, which can be quite a frustrating thing.

You have to rebuild and reanalyze playlists that you might have had. Except for that inconvenience, the rest of the features are pretty awesome.

The shining jog wheels measure at 5 inches and are a bit on the vinyl side.
The brushed metal concoction is slightly grooved and feels quite right under the fingertips.

These wheels offer a lot of advantages more than other general controllers; once a good spin is given, it continues to rotate for a small amount of time even after your hands have been removed.

The jog wheels are top of the line, and without any doubt the best you could have ever encountered.
The touch strips of their Needle Search gives users a scale model of the songs on a strip of five inches, which offers you an easy and quick way to skip around.

This feature gives you plenty of scope to remove your hands from the computer.

The box’s visual design is very impressive.
DDJ-T1 has a dark silver semi reflective finish which looks really attractive and provides more contrast for the text on the knobs and body.

The transport section’s knobs are black in color and those in the FX sections are gray. The main knobs and buttons in the FX section are set in dark gray squares which makes navigation really easy.

Two headphone outs are there in the DDJ-T1- one is 1/8 inch and the other ?
inch which is really important in case you lose your adapter.

Two removable legs give a little boost to the unit off the table.

The DDJ-T1 is a bit pricey at $1,099 and may not be perfect for all but it is certainly great for a permanent addition to your collection.
