The thinnest laptop in the world Dell XPS 15z
Dell is one of the most trusted brands of laptops in the market and their latest offering, the 15z, is in form of a really thin notebook having full HD display (which is optional) and an aluminum chassis.
The laptop stands at a thickness of 0.97 inches and is remarkably portable.
With the thin size of the laptop it bears a close resemblance to a MacBook Pro laptop. There are a variety of features in the laptop like a chiclet keyboard, 720p WLED display and 1 USB 2.0/eSATA Combo and 2 USB 3.0 ports that resemble an Apple. The aluminum chassis has a magnesium alloy palm rest.
The base price of the Dell XPS 15z is $999 and has the configuration of an Intel Core i5-2410M processor and a Core i7 option as well.
If you pay $500 more you can get an Intel Core i7-2620M which is faster with more cache. Those with tighter budget can always stay with the Core i5 model, but otherwise you can go for the other one for enhanced performance.
The laptop has an 8 cell battery which gives a good battery life and a 9-in-1 media card reader. The HD Webcam is a 1.3 MP, while the hard drive of Dell XPS 15z is a 500 GB 7200RPM Hard Drive.
The 15z has 6GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory which is quite abundant. In fact, some models have 8GB memory. The gaming in the notebook is not really the best but the system is not at all bad.
The graphics card of NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M 1GB is quite discreet as well, and you can even get a 2GB GeForce GT 525M. The cards have the Optimus technology which gives users an improved battery life.
The GT 525M card has 96 CUDA cores with a 9.6 billion / sec rate of texture fill. The laptop stands at 5.54 pounds with dimensions of 15.15" x 10.25" x 0.97".
One disadvantage of this laptop is the fact that the website of Dell offers only the “Ships Fast” version, which affectively means that you cannot decide completely the features that you want to upgrade, but have pick one from five configurations which are available with some minor tweaks.
The laptop does not have a Blu-ray drive which is a mood spoiler in case you go for the upgraded version with a HD display.
However, the idea of an optical drive has not been completely abandoned by Dell as understood by the inclusion of an 8x DVD-writer.
The Dell XPS 15z is a great alternative for those who always remain on the go because of its slimness. The laptop is also good for casual gaming sessions and at an attractive price of $999 is quite a bargain.
