It can be really embarrassing and killing to have a shy child. This can also become a source of distress for the whole family. You would want your child to socialize, play, and have fun just as other children.
However, you are unable to display the talents of your kid just because he or she is shy to face public. This can be really disheartening.

Stop Criticizing and Underestimating!
Criticizing and underestimating your child for his incapability to face public can scare and de-motivate him further. Encourage your child to speak to you. Allow the child to be. Forcing things upon him too soon will not get you a solution.
Communication is the Key
If you want your child to speak to other freely and behave confidently in public, you must allow her to speak freely to you.
You must allow healthy communication with your child on a daily basis. This will help the child overcome the fear of speaking her heart out. Smile to the child as often as possible. Ask questions and answer all the questions of your child.
Encourage the Child
Always encourage your child what he wants to do. Know about his skills and interests. This will help the child do what he enjoys the best. The child will never feel shy if you allow him to do what he wants.

This may not be easy at first but you need to make some efforts. For instance, you can take your child to a pizza joint or Mac Donald’s to treat her with her favorite food.
Tell your child that she can have whatever she wants if she herself talks to the personnel at the food joint and places her order.
She may feel shy and not comfortable the first time but bribing her with what she wants can really make her do her bit.
Similarly you can take her to a toy shop on her request and tell her to speak to the shopkeeper about what she wants. Allowing your child to speak in public will definitely allow the child overcome shyness.
Extra Curricular Activity or Group:
It would be a wonderful idea to let your child join an extracurricular activity or group. This will allow her to be social, make new friends, interact with new people and develop new skills.
Compliment:
Do not forget to compliment your child on various accomplishments made publicly. Also try to praise the child publicly. This will boost your child’s confidence.
Reward
You must reward your child for the accomplishments made. This is the best way you can help the child come out of his fears and achieve whatever he/she wants.
