You need to respect your child, understand his requirements and speak to him as often as you can. Honor your child’s opinions. If you act as a dictator, you may lose trust of your child.

Acceptance

Would you not want your child to be accepted by the world as he/she is regardless of the skills, talents, and personality? If yes then you need to accept your child for what he is first. This is the only way he/she can gain confidence to face the world.

Challenges

Allowing your child to accept and face challenges is the best way to make him a successful individual. This is how you can allow him to sharpen his/her skills.

Children need to learn to handle things when times get tough. You can do this via giving them a chance to face challenges.

Space

Children need breathing space. They are small and immature but it does not mean that you will stifle them with your concerns and ideas to protect them from this big bad world.

Let them be on their own some times. This will help them feel free and this is what they need.
