Feng shui believes that the kitchen of any household is the symbol of prosperity and nourishment, as good nourishment can be associated with health and subsequently with wealth.

While deciding on the color of the kitchen, it is best to avoid hues of orange and red as they provoke controversies.

Using colors like light green, light blue and white in the kitchen, can help balance the elements of water and fire. To attain the same results, it is best to use accessories, appliances and utensils of stainless steel.

It is important to find out whether the person doing the cooking is in a dominant position or not. A dominant position refers to whether the cook stands above the table or the stove or not.

In fact, the cook should be facing the kitchen door.

If their back is turned towards the door, it encourages backstabbing and even places negative energy into the food.

If the kitchen is small and this position is difficult to achieve, then a mirror or some other object with a reflective surface should be hung over the stove.

Although even a small mirror will do, a large one will be better. A spacious kitchen with a wide doorway is especially good.

Most feng shui experts agree that the kitchen should be supported on a triangle whose angles should be preferably formed by the stove, sink and refrigerator, and the preferable distance should be around 6 feet, which will ensure that there are minimal repetitive movements and maximum comfort.

The arrangement will also separate water elements from the fire elements. Wood elements like plants, images of plants, wooden furniture can also be used to separate them.

It should be remembered while placing the stove that it should not be positioned right beside the window, as heat refers to wealth and prosperity, and that sort of a position would lead to your wealth flying out through the window.

Keep your kitchen as neat and clean as possible, devoid of any mess and clutter as this can impede the flow of chi in your kitchen. In case you break anything, get rid of it as soon as possible.




Besides the above mentioned points, to ensure a general good feng shui kitchen, never place microwaves above a stove but place them on the counter.

Do not fuse fluorescent lighting as its flickers can cause nerve problems. You can keep a bowl full of oranges in the kitchen’s southeast corner for prosperity.
