Hence, diets that involve a lot of acid in them will create an imbalance in the pH level. When our body makes an attempt to balance the blood's pH level, the acidity produced by acid based food items forces it to lose essential minerals such as magnesium, sodium, potassium and calcium.

This can result in several diseases.

The alkaline diet consists of 80 per cent alkaline based food items and 20 per cent acid based food products. The alkaline and acid ratio in our body must be four is to one, and we have to be careful about what are we having.

Hence, you can have a lot of vegetables that supply vitamins required for maintaining health and fitness. You can also have lemon water and drink lots of water.

Have quinoa or millet instead of having wheat. Also, instead of cooking vegetables in vegetable oil, you can prepare them using olive oil.

There is no denial in the fact that Alkaline Diet is really effective and can help reduce weight. However, you need to remember that you don't have to eat only alkaline based food items. Instead, try to strike a balance between alkaline based products and acid based food items.
