HCG Diet Plan - The Original Diet

Dr. Simeons’ 500 calorie or VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) has gained popularity in the recent years. Although the FDA has not approved of the HCG diet method, the use of this method is seeing an increasing growth in the number of users.

The HCG diet plan works on the theory that it helps to curb your hunger and increase your metabolism. The HCG hormones can be administered in the form of injections or solutions available in bottles.

The HCG diet plan works in combination with an ultra-low calorie diet. Though there is no scientific proof for HCG used for weight loss purposes, the reviews are encouraging.

The original HCG diet plan was introduced by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons. The HCG diet plan insists on the 500 calorie intake per day. The HCG diet plan promotes rapid weight loss.

Following the HCG diet plan as it is laid out, is very important and should not be tweaked. Dr. Simeons suggests that making alternatives to the original diet plan may slow down the weight loss process.

The biggest advantage of the HCG diet plan is that it suppresses your hunger and many times, you may even go without food, without feeling hungry. The HCG diet plan is designed to facilitate maximum weight loss in a minimum time frame.

Many people fear losing vital vitamins and minerals due to lack of food, as per the HCG diet plan. But Dr. Simeons claims that body fats that are not metabolized suffice your need for the calories you normally need.




The original HCG diet plan is so restricted in terms of daily calorie intake that it is practically impossible, without the help of the HCG hormone supplement.

Even if you try to do it and possibly manage to do it without the HCG aid, you would end up losing water weight and harming your muscles.

The original HCG diet is laid out as per follows:

* For Breakfast, you are allowed to only consume fluids. You can consume an unlimited amount of water, tea, or coffee. No sweeteners are allowed, except for saccharin or herbal Stevia.

* For Lunch, you are allowed one serving each of vegetable, fruits, starch and lean protein.

* Your dinner should consist of one serving each of lean protein, vegetable, fruits and starch.

You are permitted to drink any amount of water throughout the day. For proteins, you can look forward to having shrimp, crab, fleshy fish, lean beef etc.

For one serving of vegetable, you can include cucumber, tomato, onion, fennel etc.

One serving of fruit may consist of 1 apple of any size, some strawberries, grapefruit etc. For seasoning, your food you can have all the spices like salt and pepper, thyme, oregano, basil, vinegar.

You are allowed to consume any kind of fat, like oil or butter. You cannot make use of any kind of sweetener. These are some points that you need to keep in mind and take special care of while on the HCG diet plan.

The Original HCG diet plan can be observed for a maximum of 40 days, depending on the amount of weight you want to lose.

Dr. Simeons observed that with a very small dose of HCG combined with a low calorie diet, his patients experienced a rapid weight loss.

The rapid weight loss in turn relieved them from chronic diseases like diabetes, eczema, arthritis etc. There were very rare episodes of any side effects with this method.
